Examination Pattern for SSC - Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE)
The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
  • Tier -I -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
  • Tier -II -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
  • Tier -III -- Personality Test /Interview/Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test
NOTE: Tier-I examination will be used to screen the candidates for appearing in Tier-II examination. However, marks of such screened candidates in Tier-I will be taken into account for final ranking of candidates for selecting them for the interview/skill test and also final selection.
TIER I
  • Tier –I exam consist of only one paper that would be common for all categories of posts and will be held in one session.

INTERVIEW
  • Personality Test/ interview will carry a maximum of 100 marks.
  • Candidates applying for Auditor, Accountant, UDCs, Tax Assistant, and Compiler are not required to appear for an interview.
SKILL TEST
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for post of Assistant in CSS only. This test is of qualifying nature and has components of Word Processing, Spread Sheets and generation of slides.
  • Skill Test is applicable for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax). To get qualified, one should score Data Entry Speed Skill Test at 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for a duration of 15 (fifteen) minutes.

Physical Standards for SSC- Sub Inspector
Physical endurance test (pet) is mandatory. Physical endurance test does not carry any marks but will be of qualifying/elimination nature.
NOTE -I: Candidates will have to undergo PET / MEDICAL Examination.
NOTE-II: Only those candidates who secure qualifying marks in Paper I of the written examination, as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion, and also clear Eligibility and Physical Endurance Test (PET) and medical test, will be called for the Personality Test / Interview based on their combined performance in Paper I and II of the written examination.

Medical Standard :

1. Eye sight:
For the posts of Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses

For the posts of Intelligence Officers in NCB. The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes with or without wearing of glasses.

2. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high color vision for the post of Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspector.

The candidate must not have knock knees, flat foot, bow legs, varicose vein, squint in eye, any loss of part of body and they should posses high color vision for the post of Intelligence Officers in NCB.

3.They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.


Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination

Education Qualification: Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent or higher Examination from a recognized Board or University.

SKILL TEST for DATA ENTRY OPERATOR:

Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on Computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words key depressions as per the given passage and the duration of the said Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The “Data Entry Speed” Skill Test would be of qualifying nature. Candidates allowed to take this test, will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, to be provided by the Commission or the agency authorized by the Commission to conduct such skill test at the Centre/venue so notified. Only those candidates, who qualify in the written part of examination and secure at least minimum qualifying marks as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion, will be eligible to take the Skill Test. Only such candidates who qualify in the Skill Test at a speed of not less than 8000 key depressions per hour will be eligible for being recommended for appointment as per their position in the merit list. None of the candidates including PH candidates who qualify in the written part of the examination will be exempted from the Skill Test as passing of the skill test is a precondition and one of the essential qualifications for appointment to the post of Data Entry Operator.

Typing Test for LDCs: Typing Test will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the Written Examination. Such Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form. The choice of language in the application will be final and no change will be allowed.

Typing Test will be administered on the Computer, to be provided by the Commission or any agency authorized by the Commission will be of qualifying in nature.Written Exam: The written examination will consist of (Paper-I) objective type paper and (Paper-II) descriptive type as shown below.

Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination. Candidates who qualify in the skill test will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their performance in the Written Examination selection of candidates will be made depending upon their merit position and option for various posts, Groups, Departments and States for which option is sought in the application.

SSC MTS (Multi Tasking Staff) Exam Pattern

(i) Paper-I will consist of Objective Type – Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi. The Commission reserves the right to set the questions additionally in regional languages subject to technical feasibility. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Paper-II will be held only for such candidates who meet the cut-off prescribed by the Commission in Paper-I for different categories.

(ii) Paper-II will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write short essay/letter in English or any one language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Paper-II will only be of qualifying nature and is intended to test elementary language skills in view of recategorization of the post as Group-C and in view of job requirements.
